Tradify and YourTradebase are two of the most popular job management apps for UK tradespeople. Tradeways is the newer, UK-built option designed for builders who find admin hard. If you're choosing between them, this comparison sets out the differences plainly, including where the other two are stronger.

What it costs as you grow
Per-user pricing is the biggest difference. Here's the monthly list price at each team size, using Tradify Pro (the plan with progress invoicing, reminders and subcontractor scheduling). Tradeways figures are the monthly prices on our pricing page. Competitor figures follow their sites, with VAT added where they show prices plus VAT.
| Staff you need | Tradify Pro | YourTradebase | Tradeways |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | £37 | £29 + VAT | £24 (Tier 1) |
| 2 | £74 | £44 + VAT | £24 (Tier 1, 2 staff seats included) |
| 3 | £111 | £59 + VAT | £31.99 (Tier 1 plus the £7.99 seat add-on) |
| 5 | £185 | £89 + VAT | £31.99 with that add-on, or £40 on Tier 2 |
The £31.99 figure is Tier 1 at £24 plus £7.99 a month, which raises the staff limit from 2 to 5. It does not add a charge for each extra person. Tier 2 at £40 is the better fit if you also need the higher limits: 50 live clients, 100 active jobs, 25 GB of storage and 50 contractors, against 20 clients, 20 jobs, 2 GB and 20 contractors on Tier 1. An unlimited staff add-on is £9.99 a month. The Tier 1 introductory price is £19.20 a month for the first three months, then £24. Tier 2 is charged at £40 from the start.
Tradeways also includes up to 20 contractors on Tier 1 (50 on Tier 2) and one accountant seat. Neither uses a staff seat.
Where Tradify is stronger
- Accounting integrations. Two-way sync with Xero, Sage and QuickBooks is mature and widely used.
- Service and maintenance trades. Recurring jobs, service reminders and trade certificates suit electricians, plumbers and gas engineers.
- AI tools for reading bills and writing descriptions, on the Plus plan.
- Scale. Tradify has a large user base and plenty of training resources.
Where YourTradebase is stronger
- Simplicity and price for a small team that mostly quotes and invoices.
- A generous 30-day trial with no card needed, plus a free fallback account if you don't upgrade.
- UK roots and long track record.
Where Tradeways is stronger
- Built for people who find admin hard. If you're dyslexic, have ADHD or just hate paperwork, the accessibility tools and clutter-free screens make a real difference to whether the admin gets done.
- Price for small teams. Two people pay the same £24 as one. A third person is a flat £7.99 seat add-on, not another full subscription.
- Builder-focused features. Proposals with stage payments, job and business expenses linked together, cash-flow forecasting, RAMS and compliance certificates.
- Contractors and an accountant included, with contractors only seeing the jobs assigned to them, and none of your finances.
Where Tradeways is still catching up
We'd rather you knew now. Tradeways has no free trial yet. Direct Xero, QuickBooks and Sage integrations are not available yet. You can export expenses as CSV, and your accountant has an included seat. Design tools sit on a higher tier that is not on sale yet. If live Xero sync is essential today, Tradify or YourTradebase may suit you better for now.
Switching from Tradify or YourTradebase
If you're moving across:
- Export your clients and open jobs as CSV.
- Import them into the new app.
- Finish existing jobs in the old system; start new jobs in the new one.
- Cancel the old subscription once the last invoice is paid.
Tradeways supports CSV import of clients. It does not import a jobs file. Our support team can talk you through a move by phone or WhatsApp.
Verdict
- Choose Tradify for a service trade with several engineers and an accountant on Xero.
- Choose YourTradebase for simple, affordable quoting and invoicing with accounting sync.
- Choose Tradeways if you're a small builder or renovator, admin is the part you dread, or accessibility matters to you or your team.
